About Me

I am a Human Resource professional. But more importantly I am under 30 and according the SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management) that makes me a Young Professional. I go to school, work, volunteer, and network until I am blue in the face.

I attended The Ohio State University for my undergrad, and I am currently, desperately trying to get an MBA.  I went into HR straight from undergrad. (What else could a girl do with a couple of B.A.s?) I have bounced around from industry to industry, but I have always stayed in HR. I also have a Professional Human Resource (PHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute.

Once I get done with my day gig, I also currently serve on two SHRM Boards.  The first is for a local SHRM chapter. I am currently their VP of membership. The other SHRM board I spend my time on is the National SHRM Committee of Young Professionals.

As if I didn’t have enough SHRM in my life, about this time last year, I founded a Young Professional HR SHRM group for the greater Washington D.C. I can’t believe it’s been a year, but we are still going strong and growing.  I am still currently leading this committee. I have also had the privilege to speak at a Regional SHRM Student Conference, as well as be featured in a National SHRM Membership drive.

Now as if I wasn’t busy enough, every Young Professional wants to be well rounded right?  I also volunteer with Leadership Arlington. I am proud to be a member of the Young Professional Class of ’11 and also volunteer on varies committees.  And once a month I get the privilege of being a docent for a local historical property.

More importantly, I am a Young Professional just trying to make it in this big bad world. I want to leave my mark on the world, with as little bumps and bruises as possible. I am constantly asked how I make it all work, keep everything straight, and still manage to laugh at the end of the day.  That got me to thinking…how do I do all of that? Well, it hasn’t and isn’t always easy, but it’s been worth it.

I have picked up a few tactics along the way on how to accomplish everything that is expected of a Young Professional in this day and age. My hope is to pass those tactics along. I am passionate about helping people succeed through finding themselves and what makes them happy.  Gear up, and get ready to learn a few tactical plays.
